Encouraging learners to develop core knowledge and skills in the target area by asking questions and identifying connections between the core concepts is vital to the further development of the necessary skills. Specifically, inquiry-based learning allows students to gain an intrinsic and, therefore, much more profound understanding and idea of the studied issue. Furthermore, the integration of the inquiry-based approach can be used to build motivation in learners. Specifically, by causing them to develop curiosity toward the subject, a teacher will encourage learners to engage in the learning process actively.
As a result, students are expected to acquire essential content knowledge and skills that will spur the rapid development of essential competencies, including critical analysis, creative thinking, and, later on, the propensity to self-directed learning. The latter is especially important for learners since it will provide the basis for their further active cognitive and academic development. Namely, learners will be able to build a unique approach to acquiring core skills based on their unique characteristics (Stacey, 2018). Therefore, it is vital for a teacher to focus on the specified issues. For this purpose, the concepts of listening, understanding, and empathy as the foundation for creating a rapport with students and guiding them toward self-directed learning will be required.
The described framework is expected to lead to the active development of the necessary qualities in students. Moreover, opportunities for maintaining consistent motivation in learners will be created. Therefore, the suggested framework can be considered an effective tool for promoting active development in students and supporting them in the acquisition of vital learning skills, as well as their further application to problem-solving in the academic and real life contexts.
