Any research paper has informative and communicative functions that aim to add value to the reader. According to Azeez, “editing and proofreading a piece of writing can help make meaning clear, and clarity makes it easier to understand” (1). Hence, I plan to edit and proofread the research paper draft over one week to make it clear, concise, and coherent.
The first part of the process will address the editing stage, including rewriting and removing clutter for the sake of clarity. The editing will include checking the clarity of the paper’s argument, language variety, academic voice, and persuasive writing style. The second part of the plan implies the two-step proofreading stage, which is aimed at eradicating grammar, punctuation, formatting, spelling mistakes, and mechanic issues like typos or extra spaces between the words and sentences. The proofreading will take place two times on two separate days to ensure attentiveness to detail. It is necessary to take a break from the text for a few days to make sure that the author can have a fresh perspective on the text. The timeline of the revision is as follows:
