Boys & Girls Clubs of America is a national organization that provides after-school classes to children and adolescents. The organization’s mission is “to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens” (BGCA). In my community, there is a Boys & Girls Club that offers both skills classes and programs related to career development, healthy lifestyle, and future planning. These programs are popular among local children, in particular, high school students who seek guidance on further education and career planning.
The resource benefits my community by contributing to children’s education and their future employability. The skills developed in these programs support young adults in pursuing higher education and finding a job. Besides, the club employs professional career advisors who can support children in choosing high school subjects, college majors, and career paths. The long-term benefits of improved education and employability are enhanced socioeconomic status of the community. If the resource did not exist, these benefits would not be available either since many young adults would miss out on education and career opportunities.
The club in my community is located at (address). It operates (days of the week) from (opening time) to (closing time) and can be contacted via phone at (phone number). I spoke with the club’s administrator to find out about their programs and services. I would recommend this agency to parents or caregivers of adolescents and young adults, as they are in the best position to receive long-term benefits from its programs. I think that the organization contributes to my community and is essential to local teenagers because I used its services in the past and they helped me to develop my leadership and communication skills while also supporting my selection of academic and career paths to follow.
