The article explores the impact of health education on the psychological well-being of school students in Wuhan, China, filling a gap in the literature on this neglected subject. The article stresses the importance of mental and physical fitness for academic performance, identifying a lack of health education in”Almost 90% of the students from government sector schools” (Sun et al., 2024, p. 1). The study introduces two moderating variables – sustainable health exercise and sports participation.
The article details the positivist research paradigm, research instruments, and data collection involving 549 10th-grade students (Sun et al., 2024). Smart PLS 4 is used for data analysis, confirming hypotheses and demonstrating a “72% predictive relevance” (Sun et al., 2024, p. 9). The study concludes by closing a significant literature loop and proposes future research directions, acknowledging limitations and suggesting a broader international scope for comparative analysis. Overall, the research makes a substantial contribution by introducing the stimulus-response theory, underscoring the importance of health education, and advocating for enhanced government policies.
By emphasizing the crucial role of health education in enhancing students’ psychological well-being, this article aligns with my belief that both mental and physical health significantly shape students’ academic performance. The concept that “students may face challenges in improving their health if they lack awareness of health education” underscores the need to integrate health education into the curriculum seamlessly (Sun et al., 2024, p. 9).
On a personal level, my objective is to seamlessly incorporate interactive health education sessions into my future classroom, aiming to heighten awareness and enhance students’ overall well-being. Moreover, recognizing the moderating impact of continuous physical activity and sports engagement, I plan to advocate for physical activities to promote comprehensive student development.
