Communication is an essential component of effective management that contributes to a company’s success. Management Communications with Technology Tools is one of the core courses of the study program. It focuses on technology, models, and theories in the context of organizational leadership. Every student is provided with materials that help develop critical thinking and apply analytical tools. I believe that the required articles and videos on specific topics allow in-depth exploration of the course and will shape my professional interests.
Even though the issue of workplace bullying is often regarded as insignificant, it deserves attention. Wiedmer (2010) discusses bullying behavior and the ways to protect employees from offense in the workplace. He notes that 37% of workers report acts of bullying, highlighting the fact that most bosses are bullies (Wiedmer, 2010, p. 36). I reckon this resource is particularly valuable because it explains how to distinguish bullying behavior from other conflict situations. Students, as prospective business leaders, need to know what kind of workplace policies can be implemented. Furthermore, the Mind Tools (n.d.) website is a collection of quizzes and guidelines that features instruments to advance essential communication skills. Throughout the course, I will have a chance to evaluate my competencies and develop a strategy to improve them.
Interaction is a two-way process where one communicates the message, and another receives and deciphers it. Barriers to Communication video by Weber and Friedman (2000) presents difficulties that people face in the professional environment. Everybody has a different background and, therefore, uses unique communication patterns. Consequently, it is vital to be an active listener and seek assistance from colleagues or mentors in delicate situations. I am sure this resource is valuable as it emphasized the need to define when an individual is ready to receive the information and respond. To recap, a variety of resources provided in the course will equip me with knowledge and skills to deal with challenges in the workplace and everyday life.
