Learning Styles and Typologies of Cultural Differences: A Theoretical and Empirical Comparison

The article “Learning Styles and Typologies of Cultural Differences: A Theoretical and Empirical Comparison” offers meaningful lessons to the reader. The article describes how learning styles differ from one culture to another. Different cultures tend to have unique learning abilities. Teachers and students from different backgrounds should consider how learning takes place. The world is also making it possible for many people to exchange their ideas. This kind of interplay continues to shape the learning styles of many people (Berardo, 2004). This knowledge encourages educators to address the needs of their learners. Educationists should understand how learning styles are developed in a given culture (Yamazaki, 2005). This article encourages me to look at learning and teaching differently. Educators should consider the learning abilities associated with various cultures. Such educators will identify new frameworks that can fulfill the deficiencies of the targeted learners. The “interplay between human beings and the world will shape the educational, professional, psychological, and career goals of many individuals” (Yamazaki, 2005, p. 533).

Cultural competence encourages educators to become informed citizens. This kind of awareness ensures every educator understands the needs of his or her learners. According to the article, different cultures have specific learning abilities. Such educators will empower their learners using this knowledge. Such awareness will also ensure more educators are aware of the needs of their learners. The educators will become culturally-competent. They will be aware of the educational needs of individuals from different cultural backgrounds (Yamazaki, 2005). Such educators will shape the learning styles of more people. The power of integration will address the psychological, professional, and educational needs of many persons. Such informed educators will be able to support the learning goals of many individuals.
