# Lesson Plan Take Away Model

A lesson plan is a teacherâ€™s regular guideline on what the class needs to study, how and when to teach, and how to assess learning. It enables the teacher to be more productive by having a comprehensive approach to observe each stage of the lesson. It means that every time allocated to a particular lesson is entirely spent on teaching and sharing productive conversations about the new concepts. Below is a design of either classroom or online lesson plan for the Take-Away Model.

1. Overview: The application of the Take-Away Model is the equivalent of the subtraction process. The aim of using the take-away process is to utilize both the manipulatives and visuals. The outcome of using this method is that students gain experience and understand subtraction. Once participants have used blocks or other visuals, they would visualize the cumulative illustrations in their heads and how many will remain.
2. Objectives: The focus of this type of learning is for students to use the take-away model to solve subtraction calculations. Students should be able to generate decrement sentence structures, which can be resolved using deduction method, and understand the results of deducting whole figures using a subtraction.
3. Time: As for the time allocated to this exercise, the instructor will devote twenty minutes to describing and providing examples. The students would then have thirty minutes to discuss in selected groups of four and use blocks or other manipulatives to assist them in their calculations, which they will write on the paper and the smartboard.
4. Materials: Blocks, pencils, counters, and an adding machine will be used to illustrate the tools which can and will be used in this session. For this tutorial, blocks will become the primary object unless a student wants to use an alternative to comprehend how to solve the take-away model fully. Each student will also need a workbook with the written equations, a pencil, and a rough piece of paper to decipher them.
5. Activity: The instructor will let the students know that the exercise they are about to do is the take-away model. They will then be required to have a paper with a heading which says, “start with take-away and indicate what is left in the top columns.” After that, they will be presented with five mathematical questions, which they will be required to solve on a different sheet of paper. The equations may be as follows: 11-6=, 9-5=, 8-4=, 7-3=, 6-2=. This will be the introduction to the subtraction algorithm, which can be used as often as possible. With this practice, students are introduced to subtraction as taking-away method. First, the learners will look at the examples and make sure they have with them the papers with the heading, the rough work paper, the pencil, and their counting blocks. They will assemble in groups of four and begin the activity. So, the first task will be written on the board as 11-6=, the class will commence by writing 11 underneath the heading, then write 6 under the “take-away,” heading. They will take away 6 blocks from their 11 blocks, count how many they have left, which is definitely 5, and document it under the â€śleft with” heading. The learners will then move to the next item on the list. Students will explore process of subtraction through critical thinking which will enable them to communicate and associate with numbers. This way, learners start to discover a descriptive concept of the manipulative and, by extension, the number. The framework develops an understanding of how to compute and record the subtraction circumstances.

In conclusion, lesson planning assists teachers to distinguish between the many different skill levels and needs of learners in their classrooms and prepare the students for them. The planning also serves as documentation which shows how well organized, committed, and dedicated a teacher is to the class. With properly planned lessons, students are able to understand whatever is being taught in class as well as be to follow the given instructions.
