When I think about what drew me to apply for the UF Honors Program, I immediately imagine my future career in computer science and engineering. Now, as I seek a higher-level education, I wish to fully unlock my potential with one of the best programs that will help me successfully start my career after graduation. During my high school years, a substantial number of advanced courses enabled me to develop my skills but were not enough for me to consider myself a high-class specialist. Therefore, I want to upgrade my qualifications and acquire more knowledge. That is why I am looking for academic challenges and more rigorous education, and with the opportunities, the UF has to offer, I am ready to push myself to the limit. Furthermore, I aim for honors instead of just matriculating as a “regular” Gator to acquire knowledge from top educators and receive the resources necessary to jumpstart my career.
The UF Honors Program offers a wide range of possibilities that may be viewed as contributing to values of opportunity, community, and challenge. Not everyone sees computer science as an international field, but we are continually using hardware and software created through the collaboration of people from all over the world. Sponsoring a study abroad program certainly contributes to the values of opportunity and community. I want to take the chance to go to Europe or Central America to exchange experience with international students and gain an understanding of various cultures. This experience will undoubtedly help me develop the skills I need to work in the globalized technology environment, which is my long-term goal.
As for the pillar of challenge, I ensure that the UF rigorous course selections and research will allow me to push myself to the limits more and more until I succeed and move on. I always expect more from myself and consider challenges the best way to test myself. I believe that all my experience, skills, and motivation have prepared me for continuing my studies. For instance, I participated in a Pre-College STEM Education Program, Computer Science Club, and National Honors Society. This experience proved that I enjoy working on personal tasks where I can apply the knowledge from my classes to projects that I find practical or interesting. Finally, various opportunities and challenges that the UF offers will immensely increase the tools and resources available for me, allowing me to become more creative and innovative.
