Summary

The above environmental print poster is the “I Can Read” poster that has been created from environmental print icons. The environmental print activity is a reading exercise that helps kids in kindergarten learn how to read by interacting with the things they easily recognize and use around them (Erickson & WhartonâMcDonald, 2019). The environmental icons used are objects and signs that a young child sees every day. In the poster, the icons are arranged alphabetically, which also assists kids in memorizing the order of alphabetical letters. In a classroom, the environmental print poster aid in children’s literacy development. For a teacher to efficiently use the environment print activity, they should direct the children to create a similar poster with the environmental icons they have gathered on their own. Each student read for the class what they have created.
