The Best Scientific Databases for Finding Materials

Any student needs to study the relevant literature for writing a competent paper. The Internet provides such literature, but in the flood of low-quality sources, the search for the right articles or books can be delayed. The GCU library provides a possibility to quickly search for relevant sources on the topics students need (GCU Library, n.d.). In addition, in the library, students can find information about the authors of articles and compare many of them. Lately, I have been using PubMed and CINAHL Complete, and I trust these databases.

These databases contain not only articles in various formats but also information about authors and institutions affiliated with them. It suggests that the compilers of the databases are responsible and attentive to their work. It assumes that all articles and materials have passed the filter and deserve the attention of students and young professionals. Obviously, in addition to verified articles, these databases provide interesting books, care sheets, and continuing education modules. The variety of these materials allows students to obtain knowledge with examples of the work of senior colleagues and professors.

These databases are better than Google Scholar and general Internet search for several reasons. Firstly, these databases provide samples of convenient and fast citations of found sources. Secondly, these databases contain articles pre-selected according to the relevance and professionalism of the authors. Reading the research of peers and other students is very useful. However, in the research, it is necessary to refer to specialists with rich and interesting experiences behind them. Thirdly, these databases are based on the complete non-disclosure of any information about the article and authors. Databases provide an opportunity to request additional information or even send a personal message to the author of the text to clarify any problem. Fourthly, these databases are very conveniently organized, and it does not take much time to find the needed article. The installed filter searches for an article by keywords, author, or year of publication.
