The Nurse Executive Concluding Graduate Experience II Course Outcomes

I participated in the Nurse Executive Concluding Graduate Experience II course, which gave me valuable experience and deeper knowledge in my current occupation. I improved my abilities during this course, participated in training and developing my skills, and obtained new ones. I continued my intensive experience in critical analysis, designed to expand perspectives and support the enlargement of knowledge obtained through the curriculum. The aim of this paper is to reflect on how I have progressed in meeting the outcomes of the course and analyze the points covered.

In this course, I cooperated with a nurse leader mentor, which helped me demonstrate the application of leadership. Moreover, applying management theories, concepts, and essential competencies in the nurse executive’s role in a variety of practice settings was covered. I moved my project from the planning phase begun in NR631 to the execution phase and evaluation. Additionally, I managed to broaden my understanding of several key nursing roles to apply to senior leadership positions in related organizations.

Nowadays, technologies are implemented in most spheres of human life. Thus, informatics competencies are important for all nurses, whether or not they specialize in informatics (Sipes, 2019). During this course, I practiced the application of modern information technologies and tools for effective work. Moreover, APA (American Psychological Association) style manual readings were also applied in this course, as it is an essential writing manual for people from a variety of fields, including nursing (American Psychological Association [APA], 2019). Thereby, I managed to broaden my knowledge in the broad spectrum of areas necessary for efficient work in the current sphere.

The expected outcomes for Chamberlain’s Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree program includes those which contribute to a profound knowledge of healthcare workflow principles. Students are expected to provide high-quality, safe, patient-centered care grounded in holistic health principles. Further, after this course, I can create a caring environment for achieving quality health outcomes and engage in lifelong personal and professional growth through reflective practice and appreciation of cultural diversity. Moreover, I contribute to positive health outcomes through compassionate, evidence-based, collaborative advanced nursing practice. Finally, I integrate professional values through scholarship and service in health care.

Upon completing the course, I gained experience in applying evidence-based leadership skills and concepts in the execution and evaluation of an executive-level practice change project. The university aims to expand students’ educational and professional horizons (Chamberlain University, 2021). Thus, I was provided with the role of professional values and scholarship in practicum settings. It was performed during the execution and evaluation phases of a practice change project. Moreover, I managed to realize the nurse executive’s role as an advocate and the importance of cultural humility. Further, I evaluated the possibilities and spheres of professional growth in a selected competency area. Finally, a professional portfolio that demonstrates competence in leading practice change in an organization was created.

All of the mentioned above made my way through the course’s outcomes, which helped to develop existing skills, and develop new ones. Applying technologies helped one implement the acquired skills in the future, considering modern technological progress. Moreover, it will positively affect the working process since technologies are aimed at improving and facilitating the execution of tasks. The information received about the global goals of the nurse executive has formed an understanding of future tasks and methods of their implementation. It also formulated a responsible and diligent attitude towards work and an understanding of the working principles as a health care representative.
