Experiencing Synergy With Groups in College

Introduction

Synergy is the combined activity that occurs when several persons work for one common purpose, which enhances results via the sharing of perspectives, ideas, and information. A leader who fosters a synergistic culture can foster collaboration and increase results (Henman, n.d.). Synergy occurs when two, more, or even a group of people come together and decide to work as a team to produce greater results together than what each of them could produce alone. For people to work together as a group, you need to share goals, encouragement, communication, and feedback. This essay will consider a group experience in which we experienced a change in synergy while in college.

Main body

In college, we experienced synergy with our groups in college during project work, and it needed thorough research, and one could not do it alone. Our team had a common goal, and that was the first step. One of the students formed a group, and he added members who had a unique goal as everyone wanted to pass the test since it was the final exam. Working together has never been easy, but when the team has a common goal, it becomes possible to attain the goal. We came together and created a synergy with students even from other classes because we all had that one common goal to pass the exam.

Understanding every member’s ability, the mix of the composition of the specific group, and the interaction that ensures is the first step in appreciating the complexity of a group (Henman, n.d.). Some group members felt they were better than others, as they felt they deserved a better position in the group. Consequently, some members felt left out, which affected the overlap performance of the group. Members’ abilities, education, expertise, and age are examples of raw material for the team. Because each participant is a different, unique system, a group may be conceived of as a set of an interrelated and unrivaled assemblage of raw material. Through the leadership of the group leader, we all were disciplined, and everyone got along since we all knew what we wanted in the end. The group members played impressive roles in making sure each member was following everything and that we were on the same page. Whenever anything new came up, we all would communicate, and if it was a problem that needed to be solved, we would table our opinions and come up with the best solutions. We believed in each other as a group, and everyone’s idea was considered important. We had this chemistry that motivated us to keep working towards the one goal that we badly wanted to achieve, and we did achieve the best results. Synergy is significant whenever one wants to work in groups, be it in companies or even in schools.

Conclusion

In conclusion, synergy is among the best methods for solving problems as a group. It helps one to achieve higher levels of success than they would have on their own. Being a part of a team necessitates commitment and attention to the team having ultimate effectiveness. This is strongly related to empowerment since a team cannot operate well unless everyone believes their counterparts to be by their side. Each player must be assured that their teammates—and the coach—are devoted to their success and that they’ll never be abandoned. For a group to be of value, there has to be a common goal that they want to achieve.
