Developing Children’s Physical Activity in Texas

The state of Texas is actively working on developing children’s physical activity. This happens by increasing the number of physical education classes and increasing the time of the classes themselves. In addition, accredited teachers who have certificates and licenses confirming their professionalism are engaged with students. It was also decided that physical education would be used as a punishment for students. In addition to the development of material culture, the authorities of the state of Texas are actively working on the general physical condition of students through the fight against smoking, alcohol, and drug addiction, as well as through sex education.

Physical culture was not given too much attention at the school where I studied. Nevertheless, due to the large number of various additional classes related to material culture, many students were involved in an active lifestyle. In addition to standard physical education classes, we could also directly attend the narrow direction of sports that everyone liked individually. Indeed, the majority of students understood that attending such circles gives an opportunity not only to develop physically and be in shape but also will have a positive effect on their mental state.

For the students and staff of the school where I studied to be involved in physical education, it is necessary to apply several actions, such as small warm-up classes at recess in the familiar halls. In addition, to affect the maximum number of students, some encouragement is needed for extraordinary achievements in sports. Also, it is necessary to organize a space equipped with simulators or sports equipment, which students will be able to visit during big breaks, before or after classes, and in which wearing a special uniform is not required. Then students will gradually become involved in physical activities. Some may desire to work more actively on themselves to be not only in excellent physical shape but also mentally developed.
