“Heart + Head = Hustle” Activity-Based Reflection

Everyone wants to find their place and live a meaningful and joyful life; however, not everyone knows how to build it. Today there are many guides, books, instructions, and strategies to improve life and find the perfect job. One such method is the “Heart + Head = Hustle” strategy, which helps identify suitable career paths, roles, or projects based on what the person loves and is inspired by and his skills and experience.

When I think of the things that move, motivate, and inspire me, family, friends, peace, and equality come to mind. These things are worth fighting for, and if I started a project, it would be connected with providing as many more people with equity and stability. Being safe feels like “home” for me, and it upsets me how many people don’t feel safe due to war or injustice.

My intangible strengths are the ability to approach new people and teamwork. In their book, Burnett and Evans (2016) emphasize the significance of building a team and having friends who can help and guide you. I experienced how important it is to have teammates whom you trust and who you can rely on. My aptitude to make new friends is driven by the fact that I am very empathic and helpful. It is easy for me to talk to new people, help them with advice, or just listen. Exceptional communication skills, the ability to work in a team, and the willingness to help are good starts to finding suitable work.

Based on the above, my “heart” and “head,” I came up with a few “hustles.” Referring to Burnett and Evans (2016), the way to a suitable job comes across deep self-reflection. Potential is work in jurisprudence as a judge or lawyer. Another path to explore is becoming a social worker, helping people with special needs. There is also an opportunity to become a part of some peacekeeping organization, traveling worldwide and helping people affected by the war or other disasters. The steps I can take to follow through in this exploration are to learn more about these positions and do some research. I can also get a job as a volunteer in some local organization that helps people.
