Global education implies the introduction of an explanation of the difference in cultures and geography in the educational process. In addition, students consider those problems that relate to regions in the modern world. These actions are aimed at improving the environment and understanding that someone needs help. At the same time, students can be directly involved in programs as part of an inclusive approach and meet one of the global competencies called investigate the world.
The World Savvy program is committed to advocating for global education and disseminating it to improve learning around the world. I chose this activity because it clearly shows how the organization implements competencies in teaching systems and provides specific examples for each of them. Mansilla and Jackson indicate that four branches can be distinguished among global education capabilities: investigate the world, recognize perspectives, communicate ideas, take action. As part of Investigate the world the program offers many opportunities to participate in a changing environment. For example, students in one of the schools studied the problem of poverty in Central America and the reasons for its occurrence during the training program. In this way, children can explore the global challenges society faces and understand the value of helping others.
This competence expands their horizons and invests in ethical and moral skills that allow them to develop their emotional sphere. The heading Investigate the world within the framework of the program deals with contemporary problems that are acute for the community. Thus, students can not only gain knowledge in school subjects such as mathematics or biology, but also take an active part in changing the world for the better at an early stage.
