The basis of this scientific work is the argument that traditional education has a significant positive contribution to the level of education of students. At the same time, the counterargument is the opinion that the transition to online education is a negative factor in improving the quality of students’ assimilation of knowledge. The first source is the article “Promises and pitfalls of online education,” written by Bettinger and Loeb. In this source, the authors consider the advantages and disadvantages of distance learning, which is gaining momentum in modern realities. Moreover, it is noted that this type of education has certain advantages for both students and teachers. In particular, this factor concerns those for whom traditional education is not a practical alternative or is impossible to implement. This article will help in providing arguments on the same sides of online and traditional education in Rogerian essay.

One of the main advantages that must be emphasized when analyzing online learning is that this activity provides students greater access. For supporting information, the authors “use data from DeVry University, a large for-profit college with an undergraduate enrollment of more than 100,000 students, 80 percent of whom are seeking a bachelor’s degree” (Bettinger and Loeb 1). In addition, the authors argue in favor of online education that it makes it possible to adjust the process of acquiring knowledge depending on the conditions, needs, and unique characteristics of students. Therefore, the growing popularity and spread of online training programs are reviving interest among researchers and scientists in this field. Among the reasons that contribute to this circumstance are new technologies and the adaptation of society to their constant use, and the change of demand for a workforce for the digital economy.

Furthermore, among the positive contributions of online education is the growth of enrollments and profits for universities, schools, and colleges. In addition, it helps to increase the number and quality of academic researchers, increase the technological skills of people, and reduce the number of students in full-time classes. On the part of educational institutions, an online alternative is reducing infrastructure costs. All these advantages provide individuals with the opportunity to acquire the necessary knowledge at personal speed, improving retention and graduation rates.

Nevertheless, the authors also provide information that online education has limitations for students, teachers, and educational institutions. Consequently, “at present, universities of USA are facing the challenge of continuously declining enrollments in their education programs” (Palvia et al. 238). This is due to the fact that a significant number of people acquire the opinion that this method of obtaining a degree is ineffective and valuable. The contribution of online education to society may be a decrease in the level and quality of education in the world. Among the factors that affect the quantity and quality of online education are the governments of the country or state, laws, technology, and income divide. This work will help to form support for determining the cons of online learning.

During the analysis of sources, those that will contribute to the improvement of arguments in further research on this topic were identified. At the same time, it is worth noting that among the sources, a small number of articles are aimed at considering the positive contribution of traditional approaches to education. Perhaps this is due to the fact that new technologies are spreading in the modern world, and the world is still experiencing the consequences of the global coronavirus pandemic. One of the most useful and valuable was an article by Alexandra Bee entitled “The advantages & disadvantages of traditional education”, which will support the pros of this kind of approach for the Rogerian essay.

This source provides the strengths and weaknesses of the traditional approach in an organized and understandable way, which also gives it weight when forming arguments in favor of the thesis of further research. Hence, among the main advantages are “structured instruction on a wide range of topics, extra-curricular options, and the chance to develop social skills by interacting with peers and classmates” (Bee para. 1). Further, the author delves into each of these aspects in more detail.

Thus, traditional education contributes to the socialization of the child and increases the ability to interact with others. The alternative under study provides an opportunity to see various nationalities, cultures, perceptions of the world, and points of view, which is very useful for the formation of a healthy and educated personality. Moreover, some believe that full-time education causes a much higher level of perception of information.

At the same time, this online source also considers the negative aspects of traditional education, which should be taken into account when forming counterarguments. Hence, the online program provides more freedom for students. This is because children do not have to attend an educational institution constantly, and in some cases, they are independently responsible for their study schedules. In addition, the study highlights that the intramural way of conducting classes can play as a strong distraction for students. Therefore, they may be distracted by multiple factors, such as other students or loud sounds.

It is valuable and important for Rogerian essay because, in addition to the main topic, it studies how students relate to traditional and online learning methods and will help form the reasons of choosing one of the options. The growth of the role of technology in the educational process and the change in general preferences contributed to the conduct of this study. Nowadays, technology has obviously made our lives easier. Thus, “the main objective of the current survey was to study the impact of E-learning on the students’ academic performance. It was a facility-based and quasi-experimental research design carried out at Najran University (Elfaki et al. 76). The results of the study showed that students gave their preferences to online education. In addition, this article considers that this alternative to traditional methods is more effective and productive.
