Difference between Editing and Revising
The contrast between revising and editing is somewhat subtle in improving the readability and comprehension of a literal text. Nonetheless, whereas revising is about looking at a literal piece in terms of its relevance, argument or presentation of ideas, and purpose, editing dwells on the mechanical aspects, grammar, and clarity in presenting ideas (“Revision vs. editing”, 2021). Therefore, whereas editing merely entails reading sentence by sentence checking for precision, revising involves reviewing instructions and making sure a written piece meets all the stated requirements and the arguments are valid. Both revising and editing is useful in developing a sound paper, but I would rather revise the paper. The presentation of ideas in a logical manner and with supporting evidence is better than having a well-edited paper that does not grip the reader’s attention or does not communicate to the reader.
When the Paper is Ready for Submission
Once the written piece is ready, the next step is to ensure that the paper meets the requirements by revising it to ensure that all factual information is cited. The ideas should be presented in a logically flowing order and linked to the main topic. Once I am totally sure that the paper meets the requirements, the editing process follows. Editing entails checking for clarity, grammatical errors, as well as typographical and mechanical errors. Finally, as part of the editing process, I proofread the paper to ensure that the paper is sound and well-presented.

There are delightful memories of Manila that I treasure. I like to remember the colorful sunset on the bay, the big cathedral with its marble columns glowing softly in the light of many candles, and the windswept spacious park where stood the Rizal Monument. Rizal was executed by the Spaniards. The Spaniards ruled the Philippines for four centuries. I don’t think I will ever forget the colorful Flores de Mayo processions or the gay exuberance of the city residents at fiesta time. Most of all I treasure the memory of Filipino hospitality, truly the most generous and the most lavish in the whole world. (“Writing 1: Revision exercises,” n. d.).
