TCI’s commitment to cultural diversity, fairness, and inclusiveness celebrates and affirms all people’s beauty, dignity, and integrity and believes that everyone deserves to be treated with kindness throughout their lives. Intending to support equal kindness and compassion for all people, TCI creates various connections with many different communities (Curriculum Resources, 2022). It helps to address issues of justice and form a tolerant, inclusive, and equal society. The cultural diversity of TCI also includes those who are historically underrepresented based on race, gender, age, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, and many others (Curriculum Resources, 2022). TCI thus proves that every person has the right and access to ordinary, everyday life.
Students in modern schools are increasingly faced with support for the idea of TCI – Diversity and Intersectionality. As diversity becomes more common in the world, especially in the United States, the culture of the rising generation, which is directly brought up in growing variety, is shaping the future. For example, one student may identify as culturally different from their classmates and identify as gay or pansexual. The exchange of experience between students of the same or different cultures will help develop understanding and equality in society.
With the help of intersectional education, I realized that this is how society’s tolerance is brought up, and I think this is the best way. From personal experience, when a child is still in school, he or she forms his or her consciousness. It will be different from the thinking and ideas of his or her parents or relatives. Thus, the younger generation and the employees of the school with TCI – Diversity and Intersectionality take into account various influences, social, historical, or political, which are always different. This kind of schooling has helped me better understand and support other students’ wide range of experiences.
