Tuition Should Be Made More Accessible for the Common Person

Education is one of the primary needs of any individual. With the growing global, interchanging world, it is necessary for each individual to develop their own skills to the max. Tuition, then, becomes an important part of most people’s lives. Given the necessary knowledge and skills most need to survive, tuition exists as a vital part of society. In addition, there are many other reasons why a person could want to seek education. However, actually receiving an education can often be more difficult than talking about the subject, requiring significant monetary investment. In the US, especially, colleges and Universities require people to spend extreme amounts of dollars in order to get an education. The costs for education, however, are not a mandatory part of society and can be changed for the better. The purpose of the argument is to state that tuition should be made more accessible for the common person and made cheaper. That way, more eligible candidates can be found and helped.

First, one can discuss some of the primary benefits of affordable education. The biggest and most obvious one is a rise in the public pool of knowledge, with more people being able to learn. The community as a whole becomes more well-educated. Taking the issue with more consideration, one can say that lowering tuition costs allows vulnerable families to receive financial aid. When people become better educated, they are capable of becoming better citizens, too. Personal choices are more informed, as well as the process of political participation. An individual aware of how the electoral system operates has an easier time working with it.

Secondly, it can be noted that good education opens up financial opportunities for people and gives them the potential to become productive members of the community. Using the skills and competencies they learned, these people can contribute to the common well-being with their presence. Even if one is born into poverty or is unable to find better housing conditions, access to education can function as an anchor, allowing one to move forward with positive momentum. People with high levels of education can apply for higher positions in the workplace, negotiate their terms with their boss, or develop efficient strategies to meet organizational goals.

Thirdly, the process of lowering tuition costs decreases the national student debt. An inability to afford education does not stop people from coming to schools and universities. Instead, they force themselves into positions of dependency, taking out student loans in order to succeed (“Pros and Cons of Lowering College Tuition”). As a result, a person may be stuck in a profession they no longer find interesting for far longer than necessary. Better access to education and reduced education costs solve this problem, providing people an opportunity to express themselves creatively. The overall frequency of student debt can decrease with better education access, too.

Overall, it can be said that education remains among the most important human needs in modern society. Giving people opportunities for social and economic growth, education provides a platform upon which individual success can be made. As a result, society as a whole will benefit from a reduction in tuition costs. Better access to education within communities, a capacity for better decision-making, and financial and social stability – all of these benefits can be derived from better access to education. It is necessary for the US to find a new way to approach its education system as a whole because the current solutions lack the sufficient capacity to produce better outcomes. Systems of government support can be used in order to improve access to education, including government-paid tuition and different forms of subsidies. The concept of free higher education, similar to that in some existing European countries, also has much potential.
