In the introduction of the essay the student makes a profound synthesis by listing the topics, which will be touched upon. Later in the essay it is seen that these topics are divided into separate paragraphs with their own headings. This synthesis is effective in the introduction as it gives the readers a clear idea about the main aspects the paper will cover. Moreover, the student keeps the introduction simple, which provides readers with a clear understanding of the topic. Furthermore, the student synthesises the topical paragraphs by starting them with a brief description of what the literature proves. In the student’s essay each topical paragraph starts with an introduction of the main idea supported by the literature. Later, the student elaborates on this idea and cites all the necessary sources, which cover this exact topic. Moreover, at the beginning of each paragraph the student cites different authors, which shows how they relate to each other in their ideas.
However, all of the literature mentioned by the student supports his arguments and does not give an alternative opinion. It is important to include opposite findings to the literature review to show other opinions (University of Maryland Global Campus). This will show the readers that there are some authors dissenting the ideas mentioned in the paper. Thus, it is better to use the supporting literature together with the contradicting one in order to demonstrate the complexity of the research. In addition, in the conclusion the student summarises the main topics covered by the literature. In this case, the student cannot give his or her personal opinion on the topic. However, the student can build an analysis based on and supported by the literature cited in the paper.
